Forgotten Soldiers Outreach and FPL VetNext volunteers partner for 13th annual Christmas in July                  packing event to support our troops

Lake Worth, Fla. – On Saturday, July 8 from 9:40 to 11:30, Christmas will come early as 25 volunteers from Florida Power & Light Company’s VetNext employee resource group will spend their morning at Forgotten Soldiers Outreach packing more than 100 We Care Packages for servicemen and servicewomen.

VetNext, a group of more than 200 employees that are mostly veterans of the armed forces, has conducted supply drives at various FPL locations from June 26 to June 30 gathering non-perishable snacks and toiletries for this packing event. FPL employees have also raised money to pay for the shipping costs.

“This will be our 13th Annual Christmas in July packing event with FPL!  We continue to be extremely grateful for FPL’s support,” said Lynelle Zelnar, Executive Director and Founder of Forgotten Soldiers Outreach. “Their commitment to working with the communities they serve is very special and much appreciated.” She also noted that people tend to think of our troops around the holidays, but that they serve all year long, many from our own backyard and serving in harm’s way. “Summer is our most difficult time of the year for support; we simply could not achieve this without our wonderful partner, FPL,” said Zelnar.

Forgotten Soldiers Outreach is a local nonprofit that sends monthly We Care packages to deployed military personnel who face many challenges while away from home. The organization aims to remind them that they are not forgotten while also assisting military families with sending essential items to their loved ones.

Forgotten Soldiers Outreach Operation center is located at 3550 23rd Ave. S., Suite #7, Lake Worth, FL 33461 (Located just west of I-95 and 10th Avenue north)

Since its inception in 2003, Forgotten Soldiers Outreach has benefited well over 400,000 of our military to date.  For more information about Forgotten Soldiers Outreach, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, please log on to www.forgottensoldiers.org or call 561-369-2933.
