National Former POW Recognition Day !

Honoring one of our own, Bill Arcuri!

We are honored to share Bill Arcuri’s story.

A supporter of Forgotten Soldiers Outreach since 2006, Bill joined the Board of Directors in 2018. He is a graduate of the United States Military Academy and went on to serve in the United States Air Force as a pilot from 1970-1976.

On Dec. 20, 1972, after successfully bombing railroad marshaling yards in Yin Vien, Vietnam, three surface air missiles hit the B-52 that Arcuri was co-piloting with a crew of six. The crew ejected strapped to their seats. Four made it out alive, and two were unaccounted for, their remains were eventually returned years later. Arcuri sustained significant injuries and was captured by the North Vietnamese Military and held as a prisoner of war. He returned home on February 14, 1973.

During his military career, Arcuri was the recipient of numerous military awards, including the Distinguished Flying Cross, Purple Heart, POW Medal and Bronze Star.  Bill is a retired senior system engineer and is very active in the armed forces community.

It’s truly an honor to have him as part of our family!  Thank you for your service, sir, and welcome home.
