We are proud to partner with Girl Scouts and Scouts BSA through a meaningful, service-based patch program that connects youth with deployed U.S. service members in need of support. 

By participating in the FSO Scout Patch Program, your troop becomes part of a national mission, providing monthly “We Care” packages filled with essentials, encouragement, and comfort to troops stationed across the globe. 

Scouts will complete a series of engaging and educational activities designed to build civic awareness, creativity, and a deeper appreciation for the sacrifices of our Armed Forces. From writing letters to learning military history, every step brings students closer to earning their exclusive FSO Patch, and to making a real-world difference. 

How It Works

Each troop leader can determine how many activities their Scouts need to complete to earn the patch. Some examples include: 

  • Writing: Create a letter or card of encouragement for a deployed service member.
  • Reading: Learn about the six military branches, Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, and Space Force.
  • Singing: Learn and perform a military hymn from any branch.
  • Researching: Explore current global military deployments and areas of conflict.
  • Crafts: Create handmade patriotic items (e.g., flags or decorations) for inclusion in care packages.
  • Volunteering: Support local veterans through volunteer work at VA hospitals or retirement homes.
  • Fundraising: Raise $30 per box to sponsor a care package.
  • Collecting: Organize a drive to gather care package items (toiletries, snacks, etc.).
  • Geography: Locate deployment regions on a map and share facts about them.
  • History: Learn how FSO was founded and why it continues to serve.

Final Troop Objective

  • Local Troops (South Florida): Schedule and attend a sponsored Packing Event ($30 per box per Scout). Patches will be presented at the event.
  • Out-of-Area Troops: Sponsor a packing event in partnership with a South Florida troop. Send letters, creative projects, and troop photos to include in the packages. Upon receipt, your troop will receive patches, a certificate, and a thank-you letter from FSO.
